My name is Beverley and I am the founder of Fondant Friends. I started my cake journey in y early 20s when I completed a cake decorating course in England. I went to make cakes for christenings special occasions, but mostly I made them for family and friends. It wasn’t until years later when my daughter embarked on her own cake making business that I started making fondant cake toppers. She asked me one daym ‘mum, do you think you could make an elephant for one of my cakes?’ I replied with, ‘I don’t know but I’ll give it a go!’ Well my first attempt resulted in a burst of laughter and a, ‘there !’s no way I’m putting that on a cake’. So, back to the drawing board I went and practised again….and again, until finally I had something that at least resembled an elephant! Since then I have worked each week on perfecting my skills. I began by selling my little creations to local cake designers in the area but a year later and I am now packaging them up and sending them across Australia too.
